That’s cool man. What’s a good trail like this but for a novice? I’m gonna stay in Silverthorne and Breck and pretty decent skier, just never skinned, so am virtually intimidated by the 3000ft ascend!

About how long did each route take you to complete?

Great video footage. I hiked this trail a couple years ago and even went down the side to the very bottom and got some great video shots. It was a steep climb back up but worth it.

One thing I’m thankful for is I’m older (70) and did them all from late 70’s to the 80’s. I bought one pair of boots, Fabiano all leather with 1/2 shank. With two pair of gaiters, one low and one high, my feet never got wet and I never twisted my ankle. I frequently cleaned the exteriors of my Fabianos and sno sealed them. The inside I periodically washed with a ph balanced soap. This kept the leather from breaking down from salts. Today all boots I see are composite construction and appear to be throw away. The plastic ones are more technical and designed for ice and snow work, but also with artificial composite interiors.

Love your channel, man. I've lived in Colorado since 1972 and I'm still learning things about hiking and the mountains. Loveland Pass is my year-round go-to for keeping in high altitude shape, since that constant, annoying wind tends to scour away the snow. Stay on that soap box! As the population has grown and more people have come to see the high mountains as a Disney theme park, and the problem with trash, dog poop, and even graffiti has really been amplified. On the other hand, we can all make things a bit better by policing the trail ourselves. Excelsior!

You were in my backyard! I run that loop often. People come from all over the world in summer to hike it. It’s gets very busy on a sunny Saturday in summer. Great video!

Drones are just loud and disturb the peace of nature. drones have gotten really popular in surfing and it can totally ruin the vibe. I think it also messes with birds. Supposedly their are stories of predatory birds attacking them. If there was a quiet drone, I would have no issue.

Not a critique, but it'd be helpful if we got a quick snapshot of the drive to the trailhead. Especially for us RWD folks! :)

Here in Nebraska hiking a 14 footer takes a little pre-hike prep: can I hike up this farmers hill or will I get shot or charged by a bull 🐂?

Thanks for sharing this hike. It's one of my favorites I've ever done, and I didn't even make it to the end. I attempted to do it a year ago in March, but only made it slightly past where you shot the footage of the rope before the gate (ran out of time, ambition, etc.). Just out of curiosity, do you remember how far it was between those two points? My GPS recorder started going wacky as I got close to the steep canyon walls, so I'm not even sure how much farther I had to go. :(

I have worked on CDTC/CDT/CT trail building teams building and maintaining trails. I know now how to wield a Pulaski above and below treeline. What we worked on mainly was building trails to build bridges and ensure snow melt and rain would runoff the trail so the trails so they don't get washed out. Would like to perform similar role with CFI. Thanks.

Hey thanks for the awesome video. Do you know of any long steep snow climbs like this that are in the Collegiate Peaks? Really anything close to Colorado Springs.

I got chased off Uncompahgre 3 times by weather before I was able to summit. My favorite peak in all of Colorado!

Good to make this into a loop with Mount Passaconway, which you can see in the middle of the screen at 7:40. Bonus of not having to descend the Class 3 scramble or Blueberry Ledges too!
