An interesting fact about the water in the Rampart Reservoir is that it comes from the Colorado River Headwaters 160 miles away, other than the snow and occasional rain. The Rainbow Gulch is the water coming in from the underground pipeline. You aren't supposed to swim in the water as it's water for the people and agriculture of Colorado Springs (mostly). The water is piped from Twin Lakes near Buena Vista.
Luann 😂😂😂
Lou Anne hahahahahaha.
Thanks for documenting and sharing 😊
good video the tallest point on la Garita mt is La Garita Peak 13710 east of the Pheonix peak. You might want to hike the Rio Grande Pyramid this summer 13821 elv. Have fun hiking.
One of my favorites! Loved you carrying Aria❤
I enjoy route finding and bushwhacking, that's where I find all kinds of good stuff. Nice waterfall at the end, I liked the drone footage.
Appreciate you watching the whole vid!
This must be the most unglorified of all the centennial peaks. My maps don't even name the peak. It doesn't look like there is any easy way to get to this mountain. Having to cross beaver dams is all that inspiring. Thanks for the video.
Yeah this one didn't have an official name until a few years back but agree - the 13ers really are drastically different than a lot of official trails in the state.
@TheVirtualSherpa Well, you demonstrated the best technique I've ever seen for carrying a dog across a beaver dam.😊
Oh man the alter ego thing had me rolling. Thanks for bringing us along.
Lou Anne is really the worst 😈
Snazzy fingernails.
😅💅

Just came across this. Excellent job and very informative.
GLACIER POINT not Glacial point. Lol
“SENTINEL DOME” not centennial lol

VERNAL
Looks like a super sick loop. Do you have any favorites closer to the front range that are runnable like this? More so near Boulder, Nederland, Estes, etc area??
I really enjoy your videos. I have watched a bunch of them. Very well done. I used this one last fall when I was looking for a way to hike Sherman and still obey the "3K rule". Although Sherman is so-so for me, I really like that region. 2 weeks later I did Sherman again but this time climbed Sheridan, Peerless and Horseshoe. I especially like the 13ers in that area. I also enjoy your New England connection. I lived in New England for 30+ years (lived in Colorado for ~3.5 years now). Did the New Hampshire 4K's, Adirondack 46, and I lost count of how many times I hiked Mt Mansfield and Camel's Hump. Keep up the good work, I love drone footage, but hate encountering them in the backcountry (it's only been a couple of times in all my years of hiking). You do a good job with the trade offs there and seem to be conscientious of any impacts. Cheers.
Super inspiring, thanks for sharing. Btw what song did you use for the outro? Thanks in advance :)
@henketooraw on the beat!
@@TheVirtualSherpa I can't seem to find it, got a link by any chance? 👀
Great vid, man! What are you training for?
what's your favorite 14er in CO?
Very cool! We’re working on all the “tallest” peaks in the Northeast (NY and New England), we have 2 left to go, Mansfield and Katahdin. I’ve spent a lot of time snowboarding in Vermont and I love the state but haven’t done any hiking there. My wife is hooked on New Hampshire now but I’m trying to show her the majesty that is Vermont also.
Grew up in NH and its GREAT but Vermont is also a very special place.
@@TheVirtualSherpa Yes. The Green Mountain range is a larger mountain range although not as tall. Of course I have no problem snowboarding and hiking in NH right now, it’s exquisite!
Enjoy your videos and commentary.....for sure! I'm 75 and started scrambling a couple of years ago. Because I knew I might not be able to do the whole ridge, I scouted The ridge down in the middle near Lenawee and hiked it to make sure I could get down that way if I needed to. As it turned out that's exactly what me and my friend did. It still took us 8 hours to do it that way. I did the second half by myself from Montezuma bowl to the same half way point . That route was not nearly as difficult as the first one. But fun! It sure seemed like the first half of the route over Black Mountain looked a lot scarier on your video then I remember it. laughing out loud. I do remember a small but easy knife edge. Looking forward to doing it again this summer.
Nice video! I’m learning about layering so this may be obvious, why did you put the puffy over the wind breaker?
That looks dope! I love the steamboat area. I did the Four Pass loop a couple years ago and that was incredible. You should check out the Lost Creek Wilderness loop, it’s a pretty intense backpacking loop near FairPlay.
I actually just ran this a few weeks ago, just didn't film. TOUGH day out there.
@@TheVirtualSherpa Ya the part where you climb through the canyon was tough, especially with a backpacking bag. Definitely not a walk in the park haha, 100% worth it though.
Just did this one two days ago. Some of the best views I’ve seen from the summit.
Is the split where you can park for the Blue Lakes trailhead as well?
Blue lakes is generally hiked from the other side of the pass: ruclips.net/video/806maJfF3g0/видео.htmlsi=EJaLlW6-ajt73Wu8
@@TheVirtualSherpa Thank you!

awesome video! i'm 12 days post knee surgery and love watching these while i recover.
Awesome!! This was on my list for when i visit Colorado in August. Great timing.
My best friend and I have camped at Trappers Lake in June the last two years! Such a gorgeous area!
Def a blind spot in the state for me but will have to get back there soon, so stunning especially with the flowers popping!
Very nice...Im a little confused tho and been looking at maps and mapping apps--Is the Lake Ann TH the same as the TH South Clear Creek (also Clear Creek South Fork TH) on the Natgeo maps. Cant find a TH labeled Lake Ann on Gaia or COTREX. Also...it looks like there is dispersed camping in that creek area, is that correct?! Thanks! (asking because will be driving / parking with a Honda CRV an curious how far in we can take that). Also I assuming there is no camping areas one on the trail, before exiting tree line?
www.thevirtualsherpa.com/huron-peak-hike-review/ - This should help with everything you need including how far you can drive to the TH.
@@TheVirtualSherpa perfect you've covered everything! Thanks.
Thank you Virtual Sherpa! Will definitely be adding this one (or at least the causeway) to the list!
Drone shots in the beginning are great. Why no drone shots of you on the causeway?
Wilderness area, no flying.
I hiked up to the causeway years ago, got partway across and seized up. I basically crawled off of it. 😂 But I’m from Ohio and live in the flatlands, so I was more than a little out of my element. Great to see it again!
I'm going to be tail-riding all your trail-runs for ultra training and not have to do intensive research lol
Always a good day when TVS post a vid!
Another banger!
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks!
appreciate ya!
I have been to the Devil's Causeway. 12 years ago. Good to see a video on the place.
I did the Devil’s Causeway Loop decades ago… two days backpacking 😐
Nice video. I dont think I can cross the Devils Causeway. A little too much exposure for me. I love the Flattops. Some good backpacking to fishing lakes up there.
Fishing must be amazing up there with all the water

Nice days work!
Could tell you were in noodle mindset for sure at the end there 😂
Absolutely the best 6 bucks I spent in ouray ❤
6 for seniors and over 70 free
That’s cool man. What’s a good trail like this but for a novice? I’m gonna stay in Silverthorne and Breck and pretty decent skier, just never skinned, so am virtually intimidated by the 3000ft ascend!
About how long did each route take you to complete?
I would plan for a half day for each. You may be able to move quicker without crowds but bottlenecking can slow things down a lot.
i know i'm not a climber because i get butterflies when the camera shows the deep drop offs just a step away. yikes!
